University Policies and Resources

McMaster University policies concerned with students and academic studies can be found on the McMaster University Policy website. Here, we provide some links to key areas of rights and responsibilities and to related campus resources; we hope they will inform and support students in their pathways through the University:

Student Organizations

The McMaster Students Union (MSU) provides a range of services and supports for undergraduate students, as does the Graduate Students Association (GSA) for master’s and doctoral students.

Social Work Student Collective (SWSC)

The Social Work Student Collective (formerly MUSSWSA) is an important part of the life of the School. With varied emphasis over time, the Collective identifies representatives to sit on School committees, is involved in student activity in the wider University (through MSU structures) and engages with the community through, for instance, speakers series, fund-raising and social action. The Director and the Undergraduate and Graduate Program chairs consult with the Association’s Collective’s steering committee/ officers and vice versa.

McMaster Students Union (MSU)

The McMaster Students Union (MSU), is the central undergraduate student government at McMaster University.

Graduate Students Association (GSA)

The GSA promotes the welfare and interests of the members through facilities and opportunities for social, athletic and intellectual activities, represents the members before the duly elected and appointed authorities of McMaster University, and promotes communication and participation in all matters of common interest between the members of the Association and the members of other student organizations, both at McMaster and in other educational institutions.
