Topics in Advanced Social Work: Arts-Informed Research & Practice

Arts-based approaches are increasingly used and valued in practice, teaching and research contexts. This course explores the theory, purposes and practices of arts-informed approaches; ethical and methodological tensions; relevance for a wide range of participants and audiences; and connections to social justice goals. The course will be of interest to practitioners (in social work, nursing, public health etc.) as well as to social science graduate students interested in considering (or who are already engaging) the arts in their research or knowledge exchange.
